๐Ÿ“– BEFORE YOU START

โ†’ Keep this guide saved on your phone or take a printout.

โ†’ Each morning has ONE focus practice (takes only 5 to 15 minutes).

โ†’ Do them in order. Day 1 builds the foundation for Day 2, and so on.

โ†’ Do NOT skip ahead. The sequence is designed intentionally.

โ†’ If you miss a day, do not feel guilty. Simply continue from where you left off.

โ†’ Keep a small diary or your phone notes app handy. At the end of each day, there is a 1-minute reflection.

๐Ÿงด WHAT YOU WILL NEED (ALL WEEK)

โœ“ Warm water access

โœ“ 1 teaspoon organic sesame oil or cold-pressed coconut oil

โœ“ Fresh lemon (needed from Day 3)

โœ“ Small piece of fresh ginger

โœ“ 5-10 fresh tulsi leaves (optional)

โœ“ Your phone or a small diary

That is all. Let us begin.

DAY 1

Wake With the Sun

๐Ÿ• Time Needed: 5 minutes

Today, set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than usual โ€” ideally before 7:00 AM.

When you wake up, do NOT reach for your phone immediately. Not yet.

Step 1 โ€” Keep your eyes closed for 30 seconds. Just breathe.

Step 2 โ€” Take 3 deep, slow breaths. In through the nose, out through the nose. Slow and gentle.

Step 3 โ€” Place your right palm softly on your belly.

Step 4 โ€” Silently say to yourself: “I am here. This day is a gift.”

Step 5 โ€” Slowly sit up and place both feet flat on the ground. Sit here for 30 seconds with your feet grounded before standing up.

That is it for Day 1.

๐ŸŒฟ WHY THIS MATTERS (Ayurveda Speaks)

According to Ayurveda, the time before sunrise is ruled by Vata dosha โ€” light, clear, movement-oriented energy. Waking during this time (Brahma Muhurta) aligns your body with nature’s rhythm.

Placing feet on the ground immediately connects you to the earth element. This simple act signals your nervous system: “The day has begun, gently.”

Keeping the phone away protects your still-fragile morning mind from sudden information overload.

DAY 2

Warm Water Ritual

๐Ÿ• Time Needed: 10 minutes

Today, we continue waking with the sun (Day 1 practice) AND add one new ritual.

After placing your feet on the ground and standing up, head to your kitchen.

NEW PRACTICE โ€” Ushapan (Warm Water Drinking)

Step 1 โ€” Boil a glass of water. Let it cool until it is comfortably warm (not hot, not room temperature โ€” warm).

Step 2 โ€” Pour it into your favorite glass or a copper vessel if you have one. (Copper is great, but normal glass works perfectly fine too.)

Step 3 โ€” Sit down somewhere quiet. Yes, sit. Do not stand and drink.

Step 4 โ€” Sip the warm water slowly. Take 3 to 5 minutes to finish one glass. No rush. Feel the warmth travel down into your stomach.

Step 5 โ€” Wait at least 15 to 20 minutes before eating or drinking anything else.

๐ŸŒฟ WHY THIS MATTERS

In Ayurveda, this practice is called Ushapan. Warm water first thing in the morning acts like a gentle internal shower for your digestive system.

It helps:
โ†’ Flush out accumulated toxins (Ama)
โ†’ Stimulate the digestive fire (Agni)
โ†’ Relieve constipation naturally
โ†’ Hydrate every cell gently

Cold water shocks the system. Warm water soothes and prepares it.

Today’s Practice: Day 1 (Wake Early) + Day 2 (Warm Water Ritual)

DAY 3

Lemon-Honey Water

๐Ÿ• Time Needed: 10 minutes

Continue with Day 1 (waking early) and Day 2 (warm water ritual) as your base. Today, we upgrade your warm water.

Step 1 โ€” Prepare your warm water as usual (one glass, comfortably warm, not boiling).

Step 2 โ€” Squeeze the juice of half a fresh lemon into it. Use real lemon, not packaged lemon juice.

Step 3 โ€” Add half a teaspoon of raw, unprocessed honey. Stir well.

โš ๏ธ Important Note: Do NOT add honey to boiling hot water. Ayurveda considers heated honey to be toxic (Ama-producing). Water should be warm, not scalding, when you add honey.

Step 4 โ€” Sip slowly. Sit down. No phone. Just you and this golden, cleansing drink.

Step 5 โ€” Wait 15 to 20 minutes before breakfast.

๐ŸŒฟ WHY THIS MATTERS

Lemon is sour and warming in nature (Amla rasa). It gently stimulates the liver and gallbladder to release bile, preparing your digestion for the day.

Raw honey (Madhu) is considered a Yogavahi โ€” a carrier substance that enhances the properties of whatever it is combined with. Together, lemon and honey create a mild detoxifying drink that also aids gentle weight management over time.

Today’s Practice: Day 1 + Day 2 + Day 3 (Lemon-Honey Warm Water)

DAY 4

Tongue Scraping

๐Ÿ• Time Needed: 2 minutes (added to your existing routine)

Continue Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 practices. Today, we introduce a powerful 2-minute Ayurvedic oral hygiene practice.

Step 1 โ€” After drinking your warm lemon-honey water, go to the washroom.

Step 2 โ€” Look at your tongue in the mirror. Do you see a white, yellow, or thick coating? That is Ama (toxins) your body worked to eliminate overnight.

Step 3 โ€” Take a tongue scraper (copper or stainless steel; a steel spoon works in a pinch).

Step 4 โ€” Extend your tongue out. Gently scrape from back to front. Do this 5 to 7 times. Do NOT scrape too hard โ€” gentle pressure only.

Step 5 โ€” Rinse the scraper after each stroke. Rinse your mouth with plain water at the end.

๐ŸŒฟ WHY THIS MATTERS

Tongue scraping (Jihwa Nirlekhana) is one of the most underrated Ayurvedic practices. Overnight, your digestive system deposits toxins on the tongue’s surface.

Scraping them off:
โ†’ Removes bacteria and bad breath
โ†’ Activates taste buds for better digestion
โ†’ Prevents reabsorption of toxins back into the body
โ†’ Gives you a daily health snapshot (tongue observation is a powerful self-diagnosis tool)

Tomorrow, we add movement. Get ready.

DAY 5

Oil Pulling

๐Ÿ• Time Needed: 10 to 15 minutes (can multitask)

Continue all previous practices. Today, we introduce oil pulling (Gandusha or Kavala).

Step 1 โ€” Take 1 teaspoon (about 5 ml) of cold-pressed sesame oil or coconut oil. Sesame is traditional; coconut is lighter and pleasant-tasting.

Step 2 โ€” Swish the oil around in your mouth. Pull it through your teeth, around your gums, all corners of your mouth. Keep swishing gently.

Step 3 โ€” Do this for 10 to 15 minutes. You can do your morning tasks during this time โ€” lay out clothes, open windows, prepare your diary.

Step 4 โ€” Spit the oil into a dustbin (NOT the sink โ€” it can clog pipes). The oil will have turned thin and milky white.

Step 5 โ€” Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water. Then scrape your tongue (Day 4 practice).

๐ŸŒฟ WHY THIS MATTERS

Oil pulling is a classical Ayurvedic practice mentioned in ancient texts. The oil draws out bacteria, fungi, and toxins from the oral cavity.

Benefits include:
โ†’ Whiter teeth naturally
โ†’ Healthier gums
โ†’ Fresher breath
โ†’ Reduced oral bacterial load
โ†’ Some practitioners report improved skin clarity over time

DAY 6

5-Minute Morning Stretch

๐Ÿ• Time Needed: 5 minutes

Continue all previous practices. Today, we finally add gentle body movement.

After oil pulling and tongue scraping, find a small space in your room.

Do these 5 simple stretches. Hold each for 30 seconds. Breathe deeply throughout.

1. Side Body Stretch โ€” Stand with feet hip-width apart. Raise right arm overhead, lean gently to the left. Repeat on the other side.

2. Cat-Cow (on floor or bed) โ€” On hands and knees, gently arch and round your spine 5 times slowly with your breath.

3. Standing Forward Fold โ€” Stand up, feet together. Bend forward slowly from the hips. Let your arms hang loose. Knees can be slightly bent.

4. Gentle Neck Rolls โ€” 3 slow circles clockwise, 3 counter-clockwise. Do not strain.

5. Deep Breathing Finish โ€” Stand straight, hands on belly. Inhale 4 counts, hold 2 counts, exhale 6 counts. Repeat 5 times.

Gentle morning movement stimulates Vyana Vayu โ€” the sub-dosha responsible for circulation and movement throughout the body.

It also:
โ†’ Releases overnight muscle stiffness
โ†’ Gets lymph fluid moving
โ†’ Improves flexibility over time
โ†’ Prepares the body for the day ahead

Note: This is not a workout. This is a wake-up call for your body.

MORNING PRACTICE (After stretches)

Step 1 โ€” Make your warm lemon-honey water as usual.

Step 2 โ€” Sit down in your favorite spot with your drink and diary.

Step 3 โ€” Write down:
โ€ข 3 things your body did for you this week that you are grateful for
โ€ข 1 practice from the 7 days that felt most natural to you
โ€ข 1 practice you found challenging

Step 4 โ€” Read your reflections from Day 1 to Day 6. Notice the small shifts.

Step 5 โ€” Now, design YOUR personalized morning routine.

From the 7 practices, pick 3-4 that you can realistically continue daily:

  • Wake before 7 AM
  • Warm water ritual
  • Lemon-honey water
  • Tongue scraping
  • Oil pulling (2-3 times a week)
  • 5-minute morning stretch
